My next few days are very busy. I’ll be in NYC for a Satellite Media Tour on Monday, St. Louis for a TV segment on Tuesday and then off to Colorado (but that’s for fam fun). In anticipation of my work trip, I had a couple of special mommy and son days this week. I took Rex on a two-day getaway with my friend and her son Hopper to Saugatuck, Michigan. The adorable town, calm lake and fresh air gave me a slice of Americana that I’d been craving all summer. It got me excited for Labor Day, which is all about popsicles, sunsets and picnics. Our little road trip was the perfect warm up because it had it all.

We had so much fun making this pizza for dinner. It’s easy, flavorful, good for groups and great as leftovers. Each person can customize her own. We bought the dough at Whole Foods and the toppings at the local farmer’s market. For this pizza we used grilled onions, tomatoes, mozzarella, buffalo mozzarella and prosciutto.
The Baggu bag is a must-have for moms. I always pack Rex’s lunches in it when I’m on the go.
Our happy little guys Hopper and Rex.
Hopper’s mom Taryn made these delicious watermelon popsicles with popsicle molds. All you need is to blend seedless watermelon with a little sugar and a hint of mint and then freeze. The boys loved them. Cheers!
