Usually celebs rule social media, but this time it was hair. Diane Kruger showed up at the premier of FX’s The Bridge, and her badass braid (pictured far left) stole the show. It’s rare to see a hairstyle that’s never been done before, so stylist Kylee Heath deserves the attention for creating this innovative "inside-out French braid." While I love the look, creating it on your own would require major skills and Go Go Gadget arms. So, I’m giving you a more realistic version of this style that I love just as much. I learned how to do this amazing mohawk pony (shown on the right side of the photo) from celeb stylist Christine Symonds (her clients include Lauren Conrad, Kaley Cuoco and Kristen Bell). It’s edgy, sexy and easy to DIY. If you give it a try, I’d love to see your photos.
Step 1: Separate the top section of hair from the bottom and pull the bottom portion back into a low pony. This is a great brush for making sure there are no flyaways, and it’s under $10.
Step 2: Separate the top section of hair into two parts. If you want a few strands to frame your face, this is the time to take out a few pieces.
Step 3: Twist the top sections together so they wrap around each other.
Step 4: Continue wrapping the hair until it reaches the elastic band of the low pony. Then wrap the remaining hair around the elastic band and secure with bobbi pins.
Step 5: To give the tail grit and texture mist in a salt spray like this one.
