Jessica Alba: structured, elegant waves

Picture 1 of 7

HOW TO GET THE LOOK: On wet hair, hair stylist Renato Campora applied Fekkai Coiff Bouffant Lifting & Texturizing Spray Gel throughout and then formed a strong side part. He dried the hair with a round brush to create volume and shine. Next, he used a one-inch curling iron to create the body and shape of the look. Renato then brushed through the curls to build waves starting from the side-part. After, he applied a small amount of Fekkai Advanced Brilliant Glossing Cream to define the waves of the hair and add a lasting shine. To finish the look, Renato sprayed Fekkai Coiff Sheer Hold Hairspray.

Recreate Oscar’s Best Hair & Makeup

Gwyneth Paltrow’s makeup artist may not be on your speed dial, but you can still find out the secrets to recreate the star’s Oscar look.  I’ve chosen some of my favorite beauties of the night and am sharing the how-to directions straight from their celeb hairstylists and makeup artists.

Celebrity makeup artist Leslie Lopez described her client Gwyneth Paltrow's makeup as "elegantly bronzed." Here's how she did it: Face: NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30 PA +++ gave skin a sun-kissed glow. She then patted Super Orgasm Illuminator onto the apples of the cheeks. P.S. the tinted moisturizer was also slathered on her neck, décolletage, and shoulders. EYES: The champagne side of NARS Alhambra Duo Eyeshadow applied on the eyelid for a pop of gold, followed by a Maybelline brown liquid eyeliner along the lashline. The look was finished with NARS Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara. LIPS: NARS Odalisque Larger Than Life Lip Gloss ** NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30 PA +++ was also applied to her

Hairstylist David Babaii created Sandra Bullock's "Pony Style." To style, he began with Miracle Oil by David Babaii which was applied to gently towel dried hair for added shine and thermal protection. Next, he divided the hair into 4 sections (top, sides and nape) to ensure proper drying, smoothing each section perfectly straight. David used the nozzle attachment to control airflow along with a medium paddle brush to create this sleek straight finish. To achieve the perfect pony, David lightly sprayed her hair with IT&LY HAIRFASHION'S Pure Definition Hairspray and started smoothing and lifting the hair into a high ponytail. This provides extra control and a frizz free shine. To secure, he used a coated band, wrapping a small section of the ponytail around the band several times and securing with a few bobby pins. Next, he added a combination of the Miracle Oil and Pure Definition Hairspray to the palms of his hands and slid down the ponytail for additional shine and sleekness. To finish, he added a small decorative pin to the side.

Celeb makeup artist Angela Levin used CHANEL products. Eye Shadow: Quadra Eyeshadow in Mystic Eyes and a bit of Soft Touch Eye Shadow in Tigerlily on lids. Eye Liner: Under the eyes, I used the darkest color, the neutral deep brown with gold flecks shade, from Quadra Eyeshadow in Mystic Eyes. Eye Brows: Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in Blond Clair. Blush: Exclusive Creation Blush Horizon de CHANEL. Highlighter: Limited Edition Natural Finish Pressed Powder in Jasmin. Lipstick: For Michelle's bright, purpley-pink lips, I mixed Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Paradis, a pink coral with Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Destineé, a spring plum.

Wella Professionals celeb stylist Andy LeCompte was inspired by old hollywood glamour, channeling the 1950s Grace Kelly finger waves to complement Penelope's Armani Privé gown. Here’s how Andy suggests getting the look: 1. Start with dry hair and use a small amount of Wella Professionals Natural Volume Styling Mousse at the roots. 2. Set hair in steam hot rollers by rolling hair straight back from the head. This gives hair texture and curl. Use smaller rollers in the back to create a tighter curl, then pin hair underneath into a faux bob. 3. Lightly mist with Wella Professionals Dynamic Fix 45 Second Crafting Spray, then back comb and tease at the root. Brush out the finger waves into place and set with finishing spray.

Bridal Makeup Beauty Tips

That's me on my wedding day

(That’s me on my wedding day)

Tis the seasons for the sacred “I Do.” Whether you’re a bride, bridesmaid, or guest whose summer calendar is clogged with save-the-dates, women all have the same goal in mind for this special event — to look picture-perfect. Between the flashes, gowns and aisles, a wedding night is like the Oscars, and you wouldn’t dare show up to that gala unprepared. I rode my own wedding wave a mere seven months ago when I got married. Being that makeup is my thing, there was no way in hell my face wasn’t going to last from my grand entrance to my night cap. With the help of Ethian Hugo, the incredibly talented makeup artist who has worked with taste makers such as Carolina Herrera, we created a classic bridal look that I loved. These are the tips and products he used to create my look that I can personally say kept me looking like a fresh-faced bride from the first pictures at 2pm to the last dance at 2am. Read More
