Buzz Word: Beauty Balm

It seems every beauty company got the same memo — formulate a BB cream. The “BB” stands for beauty balm (some also say blemish balm). These wonder creams have been popular in Asia for years and now they’re all the rage in the states. The main idea behind them is that they give light, even coverage like a tinted moisturizer, but they’re also a skincare product packed with hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, and sunscreen. Dr. Jart, which I’ve talked about before, was first out of the gate, and it’s still one of my favorites. MAC, Estee Lauder, Clinique, and Garnier have also come out with their own versions. I definitely think they’re worth the try. And now you’ve gotten the memo, too.

Hot Winter Skin Saviors

In the dead of the snowy, bitter winter, my skin is sometimes nothing short of, well, dead. I wish I could snap my finger and be transported to my favorite spa—a girl can dream. In the meantime, I’ve found some products that not only save parched skin, but also bring home some spa coziness.

My typically wind-burned cheeks have stayed comfortable with a skincare line called Vitaphenol. The cleanser and daily moisturizer contain Coenzyme Q10, antioxidants and vitamins A, C and E. The cleanser takes off makeup without stripping skin and the moisturizer has a nice, light, fast-absorbing consistency. I love that the products are anti-aging and moisturizing without being heavy duty, gloppy creams.

Flaky, scaly limbs are not to be ignored. Fiery, itchy legs have actually kept me awake in the middle of the night and the only cure is more Clarins Tonic Body Treatment Oil. Made with hazelnut oil and rosemary, geranium and mint extracts, it’s kind of like a spa in a jar. I coat myself in the stuff while I’m still damp from the shower and I pat the excess onto my face—keeps me dewy!

Only thing better than a fab body oil: a warm body oil in candle form. The Earthly Body 3-in-1 Massage Candle is made with massage oil rather than wax. You light the wick, enjoy it as a candle for about twenty mintues or so, and then you can pour the warm oil onto your skin and use it as a moisturizer. How cool is that! I’ve been using the “Skinny Dip” scent, which is vanilla-y and musky, but there are several other scents to choose from (might I say a fabulous holiday gift?).

Get Bella’s Wedding Dress Worn in “Breaking Dawn”

First it was a princess — now it’s a heroine. This year’s most coveted wedding dresses can be yours…

In the recently released The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, Kristen Stewart’s character Bella walked down the aisle in a sleek, body-hugging number designed by Carolina Herrera. To many brides-to-be delight, the gorgeous satin gown has been recreated by designer Alfred Angelo to a tee. Sold on the designer’s website for $799, it has the same lace covered sleeves, cut-out illusion back with a Chantilly-inspired lace applique trim, fabric-covered buttons down the back, and chapel train.

Beyond the dress, there’s no room for error when it comes to makeup on your wedding day. It has to look pristine from the moment you walk down the aisle to the time the final song is played. Or, in the case of shooting the wedding scene, Stewart was able to keep her bridal look in tact with the help of Dr. Hauschka Moisturizing Day Cream. Her makeup artist dabbed it on her forehead, cheek bones and cheeks to keep her skin glowing.
