Style Meets Function: Shellac is a Must

I had the pleasure of attending a CND event yesterday in the presidential suite of Chicago’s Waldorf Astoria. Creative Nail Design is the brand for nails. They do the nails at practically every show during fashion week and set the trends. Celebs like Rihanna, who’s talons stand out on the red carpet, have CND to thank. I was looking forward to trying out Shellac, CND’s professional manicure that promises no chips for two weeks. If you’re wary of no chip, I understand. The original gel mani has a fatal flaw. To remove the gel polish, the nail technician has to file it off. For people who get this done regularly, this process eventually weakens the nail. No need to worry about Shellac. It doesn’t compromise nails a bit. Here’s the final product! In honor of my upcoming vacation to Paris, I chose negligee (a dusty pale pink) as the base coat and had the nail technician create an ombre effect on top using black glitter. The finishing touches were expertly applied by up-and-coming nail artist extraordinaire AstroWifey, who’s already a superstar in my book. I saved three nails for Ashley Crow aka AstroWifey and requested the Eiffel Tower, a bee and a Standard Poodle. (You may think my choices are random but each has a personal meaning to me). In seconds, she free-formed each design and turned my nails into a work of art.

  3. I just switched from OPI acrylics to CND. I LOVE CND! They are way above any product I’ve ever tried. I have been a nail tech since 2003. I cannot believe I wasted money and time on everything but CND until now. It’s all I buy!

    Lovely choice of colors/designs Nicole!
Since I started doing Shellac, almost all of my clients have switched over! Women who never got manicures are now coming in every 2 weeks like clockwork! Great for business, and great for the clients, as it is helping their nails grow and stay strong.
My favorite feature of Shellac is the NO DRY TIME! No more smudges from keys, phones, car doors, etc – yay! My ladies love this too, obviously! I actually do regular manicures/pedicures on quite a few stroke survivors, and as a result of stroke, some of their hands curl inward into a permanent fist. With the Shellac, we just completely cure 1 finger at a time, and they too can have a perfect mani, even on their affected hand! Before Shellac, polishing the affected hand wasn’t even an option – they asked at many places. It is very rewarding to see the joy on their faces after having been Shellacked!
Shellac also layers fabulously! I’ve created countless ‘Frankenstein’ colors, so there is a wide variety to choose from now.
All in all, Shellac is my most valuable asset, and a real salon saver! Thank you CND!! :)
