Gold Makeup Looks To Try On New Year's Eve
If you've ever wanted permission to experiment with sparkle, New Years Eve is the night to do it. But we're not going to leave you to figure it out yourself. Makeup artist extraordinaire Pat McGrath, who has made up every famous face you can imagine, who has worked with mega brands including CoverGirl, and who has done all the major runways in the fashion scene, creating trend-setting makeup looks for Dior and Givenchy, just to name a few, has launched her own gold makeup Gold 001. The announcment of the limited-edition product was breaking news in the beauty world, and the first run of Gold 001, which was limited to 1,000 product sets, sold out in a matter of hours. Lucklily we got our hands on it and are sharing our how-to for creating a beautiful gold eye look along with featuring other gold makeup looks to help inspire your inner makeup artist for the holidays.
The Gold 001 set comes with a compact of the pigment, a scalpel tool (for carving out the pigment), an empty compact for mixing, and mehron mixing liquid. P.S. Being that Pat's product is sold out, this gorgeous gold set is the perfect substitute. The concept is simple: using those tools, you can mix your own specific formula using the pigment. Different formulas will yield different results, such as textures better suited for eyes, lips, or even cheeks.
Here's how we used the pigment: We used just 2-3 drops of the mixing liquid and a little bit of pigment to create a liquid eyeliner consistency. After creating a cat eye with this liquid black liner, we layered the gold on top and ended up with a pretty peak-a-boo gold accent on your lids. See below photo on left. For a more dramatic gold liner look like the photo on the below right, line your uppler lashes with a liner like this one from Eyeko, which is super easy to use.
As long as you've got a gold makeup shade, you can recreate any of these looks. And if you don't have any gold makeup yet, we've got you covered. Scroll down to shop our top 10 suggestions!
There are plenty of ways to get in on this incredible trend, even if you didn't score Gold 001! If you did, be sure to send us pictures of your look.
