Congrats to the 5 readers (you know who you are) who won the Opulent Cloud
Mint Green (seen at Chanel, Valentino)
Be it a purse, suit, ring or nails, this peppermint hue was everywhere on the runways. Slick the jade shade on nails and you’ll be marking your territory as the fashionista in your circle. Try N.Y.C. In A New York Color Minute Nail Enamel in East Village, an aquamarine teal that’s available at drugstores, Barry M Nail Paint in Mint Green
or NailEZEE in C. Lately (call 800.684.0650 to order).
Semi-matte Skin (seen at Diane Von Furstenberg, Catherine Malandrino)
Neither dewy nor flat, skin this season is clean and natural. This finish requires a sheer layer of base that will even tone and hide flaws and still allow freckles to show through. At Diane Von Furstenberg, makeup artist James Kaliardos lightly applied MAC Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation.
Contoured Cheeks (seen at Zac Posen, Matthew Williamson)
Instead of dusting peaches and petal pinks on the apples of cheeks, the focus is on defining them. To do that, makeup artists including Lucia Pieroni, who created the above look at the Zac Posen show, accentuated the cheekbones using a taupe blush or matte bronzing powder. Copy this sculpted effect by sweeping the color underneath the cheekbones up toward the temples.
It may seem a bit schizo that Spring 2010 Fashion Week already took place when Fall is just settling in. Such is the manic world of fashion. Get ready for slouchy pants, icy whites and whimsical waves, as that’s going to be part of the rage come April. Hold your horses though. I’m focusing on the current race ahead.Aware that no one has gone unscathed from the harsh economy, designers interpreted the somber mood this season showing fabrics in earth tones and nudes. The makeup palette didn’t stray far from that. Here are three of the season’s hottest beauty trends.1. Deep Side Part
(seen at Donna Karen, Bottega Vaneta)
This romantic look is reminiscent of the 30′s. To create fullness at the crown, part your hair to the opposite side of your natural part. Keep it sleek by spraying your comb with hairspray and gently combing down flyaways.
2. Rose Lips
(seen at Carolina Herrera, Givenchy)
Makeup artist Diane Kendal used a lip brush to apply MAC lipstick in Twig, a brown-based matte pink. She finished with a dab of MAC dazzleglass gloss in Local Colour on the center of lips to create the illusion of a fuller pout.
3. Rock and Roll Eyes
(seen at Marc Jacobs, Behnaz Sarafpour)
To achieve this smoldering eye, brush a dark shadow (try charcoal, deep plum or navy) on lids. Then apply a kohl liner, drawing into the waterlines of the eyes.

For the eighth consecutive season, nail company Sally Hansen has collaborated with fashion designer Tracy Reese to create polish colors inspired by the designer’s runway collection.I always look forward to seeing the new shades, and each season “I die” over them (yes, I watch The Rachel Zoe Project
, and I hope I have more lives to spare because the colors just seem to get better and better).
Tracy Reese 2009 Fall Fashion Show
This Fall, the shade worn on the runway was no exception. Models’ nails were adorned in Sally Hansen’s Opulent Cloud–a gorgeous gunmetal grey that has an iridescent purple undertone. Consider it your neutral this season. You may notice that this take on grey isn’t too far a departure from the it
hue– bright silver
–that made a splash this past summer.BG Giveaway
