New Skincare Ingredient to Know About: Squalane Oil

We’ve slathered every which type of oil on our skin—olive, argan, coconut, jojoba, avocado, to name five. A new contender that landed on our desks: Squalane oil. It’s a hot new ingredient that’s popping up in skincare products and gaining industry buzz. The oil was once purely derived from shark liver (yikes!), which is considered to be the richest source of Squalane. However, there are now all-natural, cruelty-free ways to obtain Squalane via plant sources like Amaranth seed, rice bran, wheat germ, and olives. Squalane is suitable for all skin types—it won’t clog pores, leave oily residue, or cause allergic reactions. The oil is supposed to stimulate new cell growth, reduce free radical oxidative damage, prevent age spots, heal dry skin, and it even has antibacterial properties. What’s special about Squalane is that its molecular structure resembles that of our own skin, which means that our skin can synthesize Squalane faster than other oils. Essentially, it works quicker and more effectively. Here are a couple products containing the star ingredient: Indie Lee & Co. Squalane Facial Oil, $32 Indie Lee & Co. (shown above) is a prestige, toxin-free skincare line. Indie’s formulation is derived from olives and combats skin conditions like rosacea, blemishes and dry skin—it’s the company’s “hero” product. Heir Atelier Ultimate Make Up Prep, $38 The serum is designed to be worn under makeup for a dewy finish without looking greasy.  It contains Squalane and Jojoba Oils and we love that you don’t need to use an additional moisturizer. posted by Cody

That’s a great looking oil. I think essential oils are the best thing to do for skin care and this looks like it won’t fail to meet expectations. Good post!

this oil sounds promising. i have tried so many different oils and have been quite happy with results. i must be very careful as i am allergic to so many things. i trust organic olive oil and coconut oil and several other oils i would very much like to try squalane oil / i am a woman of advanced years and have no wrinkles so that must say something. however just trying things once and then quit is not recommended for it must be constant not just a sometime thing. dont expect nstant results as u must perservere
