Foundation is arguably the hardest makeup product to shop for. From textures, to finishes, to brands and shades, it’s hard to find the right match.
Luckily, Prescriptives has made the process easier with the launch of their “Custom Blend Live Video Chat.” The best part is that it’s all done from the comfort of your home. We wanted to see if it really works so we gave it a try. We wondered how we could effectively be “fit” for a foundation through a computer screen and were pleasantly surprised. Here’s what happens:
First, I chatted with one of their “Beauty Geniuses,” Nikki, and we discussed my skin type, my skin tone, my past experiences with foundation, and what
my current makeup routine entails. I also uploaded this picture of myself (from one of Nicole’s Today Show segments) so that she could get a better idea of what my skin looked like. I was blown away by how many variables go into making the foundation—it’s truly a custom formula. To give you an idea, here’s my foundation recipe that Nikki (she was very knowledgeable) whipped up:

I received the product about a week after the video chat and it’s awesome. The color matches my skin tone perfectly and it doesn’t look like a mask, which I requested. The candlelight finish is basically just a little bit of luminosity—I was worried it would be glittery, but it’s not at all. The formula is saved on my online account so that I can re-order the exact same product when I run out. I fear sounding too gung-ho, but I wouldn’t change anything about the foundation. It’s exactly what I was looking for. The whole experience was a cinch.
