Best Spring Beauty Buys for Moms Event

Last month we had our 4th annual Best Beauty Buys for Moms Event with Bump Club and Beyond, presented by Clarins, Phyto and Bath & Body Works. Moms and moms-to-be gathered at the Argent Restaurant for a night of beauty treatments (manicures, brow waxes, chair massages and micro-derm facials) powered by PrettyQuick, food, mocktails and cocktails, a presentation of my spring beauty must-haves, raffles prizes and gift bags galore. Everyone left with more than $200 worth of beauty products! To name a few: Cocktail Fragrance Bubble Bath, Jouer and Cargo lip glosses, Aveeno baby products, B. Kamins skincare, Rosebud lip salve, Bath & Body Works fragrance, Phyto hair de-frizzer, GoSwype antibacterial wipes, Clarins body oil and stretch mark control cream and the list goes on. Spring Trend: Hot Pink Eyeshadow As Seen At The Met Gala

This year’s Met Gala, fashion’s big night out, did not fail to reveal designer styles ranging from classy to even a little bit crazy. Themed “Punk: Chaos to Couture,” A-listers showed off their best interpretation of the style, some exceeding expectations and others missing the mark. One head-turning makeup look we couldn’t ignore was pulled straight from the spring runways (Donna Karen pictured above right). The usually demure Emily Blunt went bold wearing electric pink eyeshadow. NARS makeup artist Jenn Streicher broke convention and used the line’s Jardin des Plantes satin lip pencil on Emily’s eyes and topped it with Desire powder blush. We appreciate that Emily took a beauty risk, but we’re not so sure it paid off.

The Body Shop Chocomania Body Scrub Review

When it comes to beauty products, chocolate is not a new ingredient, but the Body Shop’s Chocomania Body Scrub ($14.25) really stands out as a favorite amongst all the other cocoa-scented products on the market. This scrub is an exfoliant made to slough away dead skin and leave behind a thin protective layer of moisture. Made with cocoa butter, Brazilian nut oil, soy oil and organic cane sugar, it really sounds more like a dessert for your skin than a body scrub. When I applied the Chocomania Scrub, it went on smoothly and the aroma was better than I even expected. It smelled like a chocolate croissant, not too sugary but warm and sweet. I don’t think this would be my first choice on a steamy summer afternoon, but hopping into a hot shower with this scrub was the perfect ending to a long, chilly Thursday. Almost instantaneously, my skin’s texture was noticeably smoother and softer. I felt like an after-shower lotion application was unnecessary. Because the granules are so fine, I felt very comfortable using this scrub about three times per week. The only downside? It’s almost too delicious of a scent – I want to eat it! posted by Elizabeth

Try This At-Home Teeth Whitening Recipe That’s Less Than $5

Here at The Beauty Girl, we’re big fans of Crest whitening products. But if you’re looking to save some extra cash, we found this simple, safe and easy to follow at-home whitening treatment. With only four ingredients, and three easy steps, this whitening remedy costs less than five dollars, takes less than five minutes and delivers great results.

Preparation:

Step 1: Put a little bit of any toothpaste into a small cup.
Step 2: Add in one teaspoon baking soda, one teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide, and half a teaspoon water. Thoroughly mix. The end product should look like the bubbly, blue-ish solution in the photo above.
Step 3: Brush your teeth for two minutes.

If you’re a little nervous about trying this bold statement, wear a lighter shade of the hue either on top or bottom – to create more of a muted palette
Mix textures – try a chambray top with a blue silk chiffon skirt, or maroon skinny corduroys with a wool crewneck sweater
Keep accessories simple and in neutral colors – gold, black, silver, white, nude
