The scary thing about highlighters is the wrong one can make you look radioactive.

We take this risk though because the right one can make your skin radiant – and there’s nothing more beautiful than that.

Read on for my favorite illuminators along with application tips…

TBG PICK: Make Up For Ever Uplight. It’s an oil-free luminizing gel with a slight hint of
shimmer, which makes skin dewy. The gel comes in many shades ranging from sparkling golden copper to pearly pink flesh.

TBG Tip: I don’t usually wear makeup to the beach. But, if/when I do or if/when I want a sexy summery look, I’m all for a bit of Uplight, a swipe of waterproof liquid eyeliner and hint of coral lip stain.

TBG PICK: Other winning formulas that promise glowing skin — DuWop Doubleglow 7 and Fresh Twilight Freshface Glow (see photo below).

Fresh's cream highlighter comes out white (see swatch on upper portion of hand), disappears into skin, leaving behind a lit-from-within glow. DuWop's balm-like formula has a sheer, pinkish tint (see swatch on bottom portion of hand) that makes skin equally luminous.

TBG Tip: Application matters as much as the product you pick. Highlighter should be dabbed on the tops of cheekbones, the bridge of the nose and brow bones. For a no-makeup look, swipe the excess product from your fingertips onto naked eyelids. This gives eyes a little something without looking done. Be sure to blend well with fingertips. The more you dab and blend, the more natural and flawless your complexion will look.
