Avon Mega Effects Mascara, $10

This mascara requires that you read the short directions on the packaging because it’s legit the first of its kind. The trickiest part is getting the wand out of the tube (you have to rock the handle side to side to pull out). The mascara is meant to be applied vertically as opposed to horizontally. It may take a second to get used to holding the wand upright but it’s really easy to use. Just line the brush up with the base of your lashes and shimmy it up and out to the tips. I like how the formula coats and lifts lashes. While I like to apply two layers, I noticed a major improvement after just one. This innovative design also offers more versatility. You can bend the handle to apply the mascara at different angles to really define every lash.

Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes mascara, $27

This formula has become my wedding mascara because I love what it does for my lashes. The cone-shaped brush lengthens and emphasizes my outer lashes, which in turn makes my eyes look bigger and doll-like as the name suggests. The only other way to achieve this effect is to place individual false lashes along outer lashes. That said, swiping on this mascara is much easier.
