Everyone has an area in their living space that stumps them. What do you put in that corner, on that awkward wall, etc. My husband and I were faced with an eyesore in our basement. We loved how much light came through the windows, but we despised the view. The concrete wall was uninspiring and drab. Since our children spend so much time playing in the basement, we wanted to give them a setting that made them feel happy and creative. So, we turned this slab into art. Read More
The finale of my trip to Barcelona was a gala with Grammy winner Shakira. Held at a beautiful mansion just outside the city, the evening began with cocktails and appetizers overlooking the gardens. We then went inside for a question and answer session that was moderated by hilarious celebrity stylist Robert Verdi. Read More
Before you buy your next pair of gloves, consider this: Starting Nov. 11th, Echo Design, a website with all kinds of accessories, will donate two cold-weather items to those in need through the non-profit organization fashion delivers.
The “Buy One, We Give Two” promo ends Dec. 1st, and all of the items donated will go to those in the northeast still impacted by Hurricane Sandy. Here’s the link to start shopping: http://www.echodesign.com/shop/cold-weather-1/share-the-warmth/
Greetings from Barcelona! Crest 3D White flew me and some other beauty editors to this beautiful city to learn about their 2014 launches and to enjoy some cultural activities. First up — a walk along Passeig De Gracia. When I say a walk, I really mean a shop. This street is known for its cafes and stores, and a trip to Spain isn’t complete without a pit-stop at Zara (the store originated here). I picked up a few fall goodies including the sweater and pleated skirt shown below.
We also got to experience a Catalan cooking class, a visit to a Gaudi apartment, and more. I’ll be sharing those photos and a few hints about what’s coming from the brand in a later post.
In the meantime, the grand finale of this trip is a gala with Shakira, the global ambassador for 3D White. I’ll be at the event with Shakira. Word is she’ll be announcing some big news about the brand, and you’re invited to see it happen live!
Tune into the Livestream Nov. 8th at 1:00pm ET from your home to find out what Shakira has to say. Here’s the link to RSVP. http://www.ustream.tv/mysmile
I’m always in the market for product testers, and my family members are my regular recruits. My sister-in-law Lizzie isn’t the lipstick wearing, weekly professional blowout type. She prefers minimal makeup and air-dried hair. She doesn’t fall for a product because it looks cute in the packaging or simply smells good. So when she was uncharacteristically enthusiastic about a styling cream she tested on her wavy hair, I knew it earned its spot on TBG.
I haven’t worked out since I got pregnant with Rex — that’s more than 2 years ago. As a result, many of my muscles have fallen asleep. I didn’t realize this until I met David Reavy. He’s a physical therapist who founded React Physical Therapy in Chicago, and he has a new approach to treating injuries that works.
I schlep my sons (25 pounds and 17 pounds) everywhere. I carry them on my hip up and down and contort my body in such positions that I work my arms so hard, they shake from fatigue. I walk around feeling as though my shoulders are touching my ears, my lower back has a lingering soreness and my body alignment is now cockeyed. To my fellow moms, you know what I’m talking about.
