The Body Shop Chocomania Body Scrub Review

When it comes to beauty products, chocolate is not a new ingredient, but the Body Shop’s Chocomania Body Scrub ($14.25) really stands out as a favorite amongst all the other cocoa-scented products on the market. This scrub is an exfoliant made to slough away dead skin and leave behind a thin protective layer of moisture. Read More

Curel Hand & Cuticle Therapy Review

For some time now, we’ve been testing out several different hand creams and here is another effective and affordable option we have to share. I used Curel’s Hand & Cuticle Therapy ($4.49) for three weeks and was really impressed with how well this lotion improved the look and texture of my hands. Containing Vitamin E, Soy Milk, and Monoi Oil, this cream not helps heal your skin, but simultaneously strengthens your nails. With one application in the morning, even after washing my hands, my skin remained moisturized and non-greasy. I was completely sold after seeing the visible change in my previously weak nails, which were prone to breaking. After just five days, my nails stopped splitting and the tops of my hands were no longer dry and itchy. It’s too bad I didn’t get my hands on this earlier in the winter season (literally!), but I’m thankful I have this in my arsenal for next year. posted by Elizabeth

Curel Skin Nourishing Lotion Review

Here’s a dry skin remedy that will cost you less than $10 and works in less than two weeks – Curel Skin Nourishing Lotion ($7.99). My intern Elizabeth wanted to fix her rough patches, so we decided she should give this shea butter-based product a try. Now she can’t wait for the weather to warm up so she can show off her legs. “My overall skin texture is smoother to my touch, and specifically the areas of dry skin (my elbows and knees) visibly appear less cracked and healthier.” She also found that the formula is gentle enough to use on her face. “I applied a light layer on my face, paying particular attention to the skin above my eyebrows and around my mouth. Within a day, my itchy skin in these areas was gone, and I saw a huge difference in the appearance of my skin,” she said. Another deal breaker is that the lotion doesn’t leave behind a sticky residue or make skin feel greasy. This drugstore buy has earned itself The Beauty Girl stamp of approval.

Spa De Soleil Instant Glow Face Moisturizer Review

Bronzers and self tanners are great for giving the appearance of a sun-kissed face, but they don’t actually work to improve the texture and appearance of the skin. We recently received a sample of Rena Revivo’s Spa De Soleil’s Instant Glow moisturizer ($69.99). Our first time hearing about the product, we didn’t know what to expect. The formula is said to reduce discoloration and soften your skin’s texture with a combination of vitamins, organic oils and amino acids. I applied the Instant Glow to my face and neck in the morning before makeup. It’s a creamy moisturizer and has a subtle sweet smell. For best results, suggested use is a minimum of six weeks. I’m in my fourth week and already my face is softer and I feel like I’m needing less makeup to feel more confident about my complexion. With summer approaching, sheer skin with minimal makeup is the goal. So far, the Instant Glow is proving to be the best product to get me there. posted by Elizabeth

The NatureBox Offers a Healthy Way to Snack

The gloom and chill of winter days can make you want to eat everything in sight and hibernate the months away until May. We discovered a healthy snack alternative called NatureBox. The company sends healthy snacks directly to your door monthly. For example,  our box included carrot chips, roasted garlic pumpkin seeds, chipotle maple almonds, cinnamon spiced granola and country ranch peas. The snacks come packaged separately, but we decided to mix them all together to create a delicious trail mix. Serving up to twenty people, and with each food package under 190 calories per serving, it’s a great buy for families of all sizes. Another plus is that NatureBox contributes to feeding the hungry through their partnership with Feeding America. Each NatureBox is priced at $19.99 and can be purchased on the website (naturebox.com).
