My next few days are very busy. I’ll be in NYC for a Satellite Media Tour on Monday, St. Louis for a TV segment on Tuesday and then off to Colorado (but that’s for fam fun). In anticipation of my work trip, I had a couple of special mommy and son days this week. I took Rex on a two-day getaway with my friend and her son Hopper to Saugatuck, Michigan. The adorable town, calm lake and fresh air gave me a slice of Americana that I’d been craving all summer. It got me excited for Labor Day, which is all about popsicles, sunsets and picnics. Our little road trip was the perfect warm up because it had it all.
Sitting on our deck watching the sunset.
We had so much fun making this pizza for dinner. It’s easy, flavorful, good for groups and great as leftovers. Each person can customize her own. We bought the dough at Whole Foods and the toppings at the local farmer’s market. For this pizza we used grilled onions, tomatoes, mozzarella, buffalo mozzarella and prosciutto.
The Baggu bag is a must-have for moms. I always pack Rex’s lunches in it when I’m on the go.
Our happy little guys Hopper and Rex.
Hopper’s mom Taryn made these delicious watermelon popsicles with popsicle molds. All you need is to blend seedless watermelon with a little sugar and a hint of mint and then freeze. The boys loved them.
We’re so wrapped up in how we look. Then I read this essay. It’s got perspective. It got me thinking, and I think it will for you too…

People always ask me what skincare products I use. I get sent tons of different cleansers, masques, scrubs….you name it, and I’ve probably gotten it. I’m always trying a new formula, and lately I’ve been focusing on naturals. Here’s what’s in my current rotation.
river veda everyday primrose moisturizer is pure and simple. No high-tech ingredients here, so don’t expect fireworks. Rather, I feel good rubbing this cream with herbs and oil extracts including nutmeg, ylang ylang and evening primrose on my skin before bed.
Love, love, love (get the point?) derma e Hyaluronic Acid Rehydrating Serum. Does what it promises. I use this during the day. It’s light yet moisturizing and soaks right in.
For a basic cleanser I wash with Snowberry Instant Deep Cleanser, and when I’m excessively dry, I get relief with the soothing facial massage oil.

I appreciate my mom and always tell her how much I love her on Mother’s Day. However, it always felt like another holiday. As I approach my first Mother’s Day, I get it. This is more than just a day. Mother’s Day means more to me than my birthday. I feel like I’ve earned it. My 8-month-old Rex is my everything, and while I do try to maintain my identity, the fact is, my world revolves around him, and I work hard to be the best mom I can be. Read More

If there’s ever an occasion screaming for sparkle, it’s New Years. Here’s my favorite glittery combo for nails or toes: one coat of Nails Inc. lacquer in Maddox Street topped with Nails Inc. 3D Glitter Polish in Sloane Square. It’s edgy, sophisticated and finishes off a little black holiday dress.
