Reigning supreme this season, monochromatic dressing hit all the right hues for this spring and summer. From sleek cobalt blue at Gucci, to an orange punch of color at Carolina Herrera, these tone on tone ensembles may seem intimidating to pull off, but by keeping a few tips in mind, achieving this look is a piece of cake. Last year’s mother’s day was special because it was my first. This year, I’m getting the best mother’s day gift — baby no. 2 is due the day before (May 11). If you’re looking for a special mom’s day gift, check out these options.
From May 12th-June 1st, give your mom the gift of relaxation with Nordstrom's limited-time Mother's Day Facial and complimentary Thalgo Collagen Eye Mask Treatment. Available at all Nordstrom's nationwide for just $45, this budget-friendly gift option can easily turn into a Mother-Daughter spa day for under $100.
Here’s a dry skin remedy that will cost you less than $10 and works in less than two weeks – Curel Skin Nourishing Lotion ($7.99). My intern Elizabeth wanted to fix her rough patches, so we decided she should give this shea butter-based product a try. Now she can’t wait for the weather to warm up so she can show off her legs. “My overall skin texture is smoother to my touch, and specifically the areas of dry skin (my elbows and knees) visibly appear less cracked and healthier.” She also found that the formula is gentle enough to use on her face. “I applied a light layer on my face, paying particular attention to the skin above my eyebrows and around my mouth. Within a day, my itchy skin in these areas was gone, and I saw a huge difference in the appearance of my skin,” she said. Another deal breaker is that the lotion doesn’t leave behind a sticky residue or make skin feel greasy. This drugstore buy has earned itself The Beauty Girl stamp of approval.
I’m a fan of KIND bars. They’re the one thing I could eat in the mornings during my first trimester of pregnancy. Now in my fourth month, I still buy them in bulk as they make a great snack (I love the peanut butter and strawberry flavor).
Then I found out celeb makeup artist Bobbi Brown is a fan, too. She partnered with KIND for their ‘Snack and Give Back’ campaign to remind women that there’s more to beauty than what we apply to our faces.
Together they’ve created this Eat Pretty Powerful Cube, comprised of Bobbi’s favorite KIND bars. Flavors include: Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt, Cashew & Ginger Spice, Dark Chocolate Cinnamon Pecan and Madagascar Vanilla Almond. A portion of sales from each cube will help to fund a new KIND Kitchen at the Broome Street Academy, a free public charter high school in New York City that is close to Bobbi’s heart.
The cube is $42.95 and available for purchase here. It’s packaged in a cute box and could make for a delicious and healthy gift.
Day two started out with a lovely brunch at the Ritz with Madame Watier (shown above). I was impressed by Lise Watier, not only because she’s the founder of this successful 40-year-old company and is still involved in the product creation, but also because she’s on a mission to empower women and has taken this a step further by forming her own charity.
As for the products, here’s what stood out to me… Read More
I was back at the TODAY show this week, but this time around I was on the 4th hour with Hoda and Kathie Lee. I had a blast with them and even got my own jingle! They are like the aunt or friend we’d all love to have — fun, supportive and a little bit cuckoo in the best way. Here’s the segment in case you missed it along with some behind-the-scenes photos.
Posing with Kathie Lee and Hoda.
The night before the segment I stopped by the studio to set up the products with the prop stylist. Here I am sitting on the famous TODAY show couch.

Loved chatting with TODAY show style editor Bobbie Thomas.
