This past Thursday I did a live segment on “Good Day Columbus” sharing my tips for looking great and put together in just a few minutes.

Holiday Nails
A hint of shimmer is always healthy for the holidays, and your nails are the perfect place for it. Right now I’m loving these CND’s Colour Effects metallic polishes. Metallics have been around for awhile, but these shades are spot on. The opaque formulas give you full coverage and their super shiny, not glittery, finish creates a futuristic look that’s very high fashion. I’m wearing Gold Chrome on my nails and Copper Chrome on my toes.

How To: DIY Celebrity-Inspired Nails
Bringing you another homemade video! This time my thanks go out to my husband, the trooper, who had to film this more than once because our dog (see left) felt like she had something to say, too. Penelope finally stopped barking and posed for the camera while I displayed my finished nails. Here they are!
P.S. Have to mention that I didn’t relay the full name of the website in the video. To order your own nail art, the correct website is WWW.INQUENAILS.COM.
Need inspiration? Check out Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Fergie, who have been rocking sassy nail designs. Or, perhaps you’ll want to follow the lead of the littlest biggest trend maker right now, Willow Smith, who’s showing off her 3-D nails in the December issue of W Magazine.

What I’m Loving Right Now — Nars Vintage Nail Polish

If I’m not a big enough name to convince you that the new limited-edition Nars polishes are as coveted as a vintage Versaci, look to celebs including Jada Pinkett Smith and fashionistas like Rachel Zoe (shown left), who are crazy for the stunning shades. The release of the Vintage collection re-introduces five high-gloss lacquers with a longwear formula that’s water and detergent resistant. United by the theme of classic cinema, each color is named for a movie and its original launch date is listed. I’m mesmerized by Zulu. What about you?
Mash (1996): Army green infused with gold; King Kong (1996): Copper brown infused with gold; Midnight Express (1996): Deep navy; Zulu (1996): Forest green; Full Metal Jacket (1998): Gunmetal greyClick here to purchase the polishes ($16 each) while supplies last. Comment
Backstage Beauty Highlights at New York Fashion Week
To kick off Fashion’s Night out, which kicks off New York Fashion Week (jeez, the fashion set will do anything to throw a party), a gargantuan fashion show was held at Lincoln Center this past Tuesday night. 1,500 guests including major designers from Donna Karen to Diane Von Furstenberg and celebs such as Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester and tennis great Roger Federer, who was a good boy choosing a night of fashion with his wife over a night of tennis at the Open, showed up to see the largest public fashion show in New York City history. Gisele, Naomi, Karolina and Chanel were some of the big name supermodels who walked the runway. To prep all of the models, famed hairstylist and Redken’s Creative Consultant Guido created 171 hair looks ranging from “Fifties Flair” (structured updos) to “Jazz Age Cool” (classy pastel painted finger waves) to “Pure Of Heart Side Braid” (romantic braids).
Meanwhile, the Dashing Diva nail team, led by celeb manicurist Pattie Yankee, was busy lacquering hundreds of nails to compliment each look. Some of the nail colors used were the popular shade Fashion Week, a sheer pink, and Penthouse Views, a gun metal metallic. Check out these backstage pics highlighting the hair, makeup and nails. As you can see (right), it takes an army to get even the most beautiful glamazon Gisele ready to strut her stuff. CBS will broadcast the fashion show on Sept. 14th. Stay tuned for lots more Fashion Week coverage!

Fall’s Fashion & Beauty “IT” Color — Greige

From left: Missoni Ruffle Knit Scarf, Essie’s new fall polish, Merino Cool, is greige with a hint of lavender, Alice + Olivia Party Dress. Last winter, the fashion set was starved for jeggings. This season, expect to have an appetite for “greige.” The grey/beige hybrid is the newest term to be added to the fashion lexicon, and it’s not just for the Lady Gagas of the world. Neutral to the bone, the color fares well on all skin tones and goes with everything from neons to nudes and ranges from putty to muddy. Whether worn on nails (as shown below at the Marc Jacobs runway show), lids or limbs, greige is the latest fashion grrrrreat!
