Foundation is arguably the hardest makeup product to shop for. From textures, to finishes, to brands and shades, it’s hard to find the right match.
Luckily, Prescriptives has made the process easier with the launch of their “Custom Blend Live Video Chat.” The best part is that it’s all done from the comfort of your home. We wanted to see if it really works so we gave it a try. We wondered how we could effectively be “fit” for a foundation through a computer screen and were pleasantly surprised. Here’s what happens: Read More
Quality headphones are one of those items that are great to have but you don’t always buy for yourself. When I was given the opportunity to check out the SOL Republic headphones (shown left), I felt like the holidays came early. Read More
Looking for some design inspiration? We’ve all been stuck with an empty white wall at one point or another–they beg for a “statement piece.” For me, it was my tiny college dorm room enclosed by white cinderblock walls (oh, the glamour!). Blik
self-adhesive wall decals were the answer. Think: chandeliers, olive trees, sock monkeys. I was excited to discover that Blik upped the ante on their wall decals and teamed up with WRAPPED to create large-scale, self-adhesive wallpaper. WRAPPED is known for their fantastic wrapping paper and their designs are now being made into huge Blik decals. The designs are truly a work of art and can cover an entire wall–for less than $100. Check out the awesome Blik x WALLPAPER designs below!

The holiday shopping season is well underway and if you’re like us you’ve got shopping carts started on a few or 12 different sites. Not ready to purchase something, but afraid we’ll forget about it, we toss it in the cart as a bookmark for later. It’s a completely unorganized and inefficient way of doing things, but just in the nick of time we’ve discovered some uber cool apps that make shopping, particularly online shopping, so much easier. And fun, if you could just fathom that.

The brand new app is similar to Pinterest, but you can shop directly on it. If you click on an item, it will take you to a link where you can buy it. Great for creating holiday shopping lists!
We’ve slathered every which type of oil on our skin—olive, argan, coconut, jojoba, avocado, to name five. A new contender that landed on our desks: Squalane oil. It’s a hot new ingredient that’s popping up in skincare products and gaining industry buzz. The oil was once purely derived from shark liver (yikes!), which is considered to be the richest source of Squalane. However, there are now all-natural, cruelty-free ways to obtain Squalane via plant sources like Amaranth seed, rice bran, wheat germ, and olives. Read More
When I’m on little-to-no sleep, putting on makeup is the last thing I’m in the mood to do. We’ve all been there. But, there are a few products in my stash that I can easily swipe on without paying attention, and they really make me look like I’m in a better state that I actually am. One such savior is Bobbi Brown Brightening Finishing Powder
. It’s a pink, white, and lilac mosaic that brightens a tired, sallow complexion. I dab on a little concealer under my eyes and at the sides of my nose, and then give my face a generous dusting of the glowy powder. It’s not glittery like Bobbi’s Shimmer Bricks, so you can really just brush it on wherever without the fear of looking too shiny. It’s a trusty little pick-me-up for sluggish days.

There’s something to be said for a big bag full of trick-or-treated, sugary goodness. And there’s also something to be said for treats that are delicious and healthy at the same time. Healthy candy sounds like a gimmick (and an oxymoron) to us, but the UNREAL
candy company’s candy is free of all the fake junk that’s in conventional sweets. By fake junk we mean: corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, GMO, artificial flavors and synthetic colors. It also has less sugar and more fiber and protein than other brands. Read More
If you have split ends or dry skin or nails you should know about Argan oil. It comes from the plant oil produced from the kernels of the argan tree in Morocco. What you really need to know is that it’s a star moisturizer. You can buy it pure or you can find it as a key ingredient in many creams and conditioners. Drugstore and prestige brands are coming out with their own versions. Here are a couple worth knowing about:
Olie Biologique 100% Organic Argan Oil ($40) Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil ($48)
To use, apply a few drops on your face, split ends, cuticles, cuts and scrapes, whatever needs a little extra TLC. We put a few droplets of the do-everything healers into our creams and moisturizers to give ‘em a little boost. The oils are organic and chemical-free—a skincare staple particularly for those who use strictly natural cosmetics.
