The NatureBox Offers a Healthy Way to Snack
The gloom and chill of winter days can make you want to eat everything in sight and hibernate the months away until May.
We discovered a healthy snack alternative called NatureBox. The company sends healthy snacks directly to your door monthly. For example, our box included carrot chips, roasted garlic pumpkin seeds, chipotle maple almonds, cinnamon spiced granola and country ranch peas. The snacks come packaged separately, but we decided to mix them all together to create a delicious trail mix. Serving up to twenty people, and with each food package under 190 calories per serving, it’s a great buy for families of all sizes. Another plus is that NatureBox contributes to feeding the hungry through their partnership with Feeding America.
Each NatureBox is priced at $19.99 and can be purchased on the website (naturebox.com).

A Household Remedy for Cracked Skin
I used to think the only cure for cracked skin was a heavy helping of moisturizer and a Band-Aid or Saran Wrap to seal in the hydrating ingredients. Then I got this tip from dermatologist Neal Schultz. “If you catch that crack early, apply a few layers of Krazy Glue over it. You’ll get rapid healing and pain relief. And when it’s better, don’t pick off the dried glue; allow it to peel off naturally in one to two weeks.”

GoSwype Makes Your Phone Germ Free
Have you ever thought about how much grime, oil, and germs are on our touch screen phones? When you think about it, and how can you not, it’s pretty gross. Especially with this horrible flu going around, if there were ever a time to be better about disinfecting your phone, this is it.
We found a simple solution: GoSwype Microfiber Cleaning Cloth. It’s made up of an antibacterial microfiber, which unlike other cloths that just wipe away finger smudges, this one does that AND kills 98% of the bacteria like E. Coli and Salmonella. It’s $1.99 a cloth and lasts up to 200 wipes. After using the GoSwype for two weeks, I was really impressed with how clear it kept my screen, plus there was no more ick-factor when handling my phone.

Valentine’s Day “Gift” Ideas
No matter your relationship status on Valentine’s Day, here are some ways to enjoy the sweetest holiday of the year.
For Moms:
As a child, every Valentines Day, my mom would write me a little love letter that she’d tuck into my lunch box or backpack before school. Yes, I got plenty of Valentine’s and candy grams from my classmates, but I so looked forward to finding these cute notes reminding me that I was her Valentine that day and every day! Consider writing a love letter to your child on the 14th. Even if your son or daughter hasn’t quite reached the reading stage, that’s okay. Save these notes to share with your child when they’re a little older and can appreciate them. I’m a lot older now and still have mine!

New Skincare Ingredient to Know About: Squalane Oil
We’ve slathered every which type of oil on our skin—olive, argan, coconut, jojoba, avocado, to name five. A new contender that landed on our desks: Squalane oil. It’s a hot new ingredient that’s popping up in skincare products and gaining industry buzz. The oil was once purely derived from shark liver (yikes!), which is considered to be the richest source of Squalane. However, there are now all-natural, cruelty-free ways to obtain Squalane via plant sources like Amaranth seed, rice bran, wheat germ, and olives. Read More Comment (2)

Trick or Treat? Check out this Healthy Candy for Halloween

I’m a fan of KIND bars. They’re the one thing I could eat in the mornings during my first trimester of pregnancy. Now in my fourth month, I still buy them in bulk as they make a great snack (I love the peanut butter and strawberry flavor).
Then I found out celeb makeup artist Bobbi Brown is a fan, too. She partnered with KIND for their ‘Snack and Give Back’ campaign to remind women that there’s more to beauty than what we apply to our faces.
Together they’ve created this Eat Pretty Powerful Cube, comprised of Bobbi’s favorite KIND bars. Flavors include: Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt, Cashew & Ginger Spice, Dark Chocolate Cinnamon Pecan and Madagascar Vanilla Almond. A portion of sales from each cube will help to fund a new KIND Kitchen at the Broome Street Academy, a free public charter high school in New York City that is close to Bobbi’s heart.
The cube is $42.95 and available for purchase
