I haven’t worked out since I got pregnant with Rex — that’s more than 2 years ago. As a result, many of my muscles have fallen asleep. I didn’t realize this until I met David Reavy. He’s a physical therapist who founded React Physical Therapy in Chicago, and he has a new approach to treating injuries that works.
I schlep my sons (25 pounds and 17 pounds) everywhere. I carry them on my hip up and down and contort my body in such positions that I work my arms so hard, they shake from fatigue. I walk around feeling as though my shoulders are touching my ears, my lower back has a lingering soreness and my body alignment is now cockeyed. To my fellow moms, you know what I’m talking about. Losing weight seems to be on everyone’s mind this time of year. I’ve previously told you about Naturebox. It’s like a modern online club where you get healthy snacks delivered to your door monthly. A similar concept I’m equally excited about is Bestowed Box. This box comes with an assortment of yummy, nutritious snacks (I got addicted to the island mango fruit chews). Plus, if you discover a treat you want more of, you can buy it on the website. A monthly subscription is $19 and recipes are included.

Are you one of the 32 million people who has eczema? My two-year-old Rex is. He has it on his arms. If you’re wondering what this skin condition is, dermatologist Dr. Kenneth Beer explains it like this: “Eczema is an immune reaction that targets the skin. This chronic skin disorder is produced by inflammation that causes skin to become itchy, red, and dry—even cracked and leathery. Eczema can be triggered by stress, heat and sweat, sudden changes in temperature, extreme cold/dry climates, heredity, airborne/food allergens or irritants. Atopic dermatitis is the most common type of eczema and the two terms are often used interchangeably.”
Being that October is National Eczema Awareness Month, I asked Dr. Beer a few more questions about this skin condition (see below). Plus, I’m giving 2 people the chance to win the entire Aveeno Baby Eczema Therapy Collection.

I’ve gotten plenty of pitches for products claiming to make you look younger and skinnier. But the latest one takes the cake; a new oral pill called Go Away Gray that claims to permanently halt and reverse the graying process. Can you believe?! Read More
Finding the perfect balance between a fun yet effective fitness plan is not an easy, but a quickly expanding workout trend appears to be doing both with ease. Located in Los Angeles, Heel Hop fitness classes were created by certified fitness instructor and experienced dancer, Kamilah Barrett. Instead of gym shoes, you work out in your favorite pair of 2 1/2 to 3 in. sling-backs. The class is like a sassed up Zumba class, combining a low impact full body workout to not only tone and strengthen your legs and core muscles but build your balance and confidence to ultimately transform you into an expert high heel-wearer. Heel Hop fitness is not the first of its kind. Programs like Stiletto Strength (NYC), Stiletto Fitness(Kansas City), and Vegas Stiletto Fitness (Las Vegas, St. Louis, Denver, and several Texas cities) are steadily cropping up across the country. If you’re like me, you might initially wonder if this could cause any harm or stress to your joints? According to Kamilah, Heel Hop classes are completely safe. However, medical experts say the verdict is still out on whether or not working out in high heels is any worse than just walking in them.
