A juicy vampire flick or blood red-lipstick is one thing, but the Vampire Facial takes this fad to a whole new level. Sound a little bizarre? You’re telling us! Available at participating plastic surgeon offices, this $700 treatment used by celebrities, most notably Kim Kardashian, is a cosmetic procedure in which platelet rich plasma (PRP) is extracted from blood taken directly from your arm and re-applied topically onto your face. The gel-like substance is said to boost collagen production and promote new tissue growth, smoothing the skin’s surface and look of fine lines. I’ll be the first to admit the name makes me a little queasy. It doesn’t qualify as cosmetic surgery, but this isn’t your ordinary facial either.

The NatureBox Offers a Healthy Way to Snack
The gloom and chill of winter days can make you want to eat everything in sight and hibernate the months away until May.
We discovered a healthy snack alternative called NatureBox. The company sends healthy snacks directly to your door monthly. For example, our box included carrot chips, roasted garlic pumpkin seeds, chipotle maple almonds, cinnamon spiced granola and country ranch peas. The snacks come packaged separately, but we decided to mix them all together to create a delicious trail mix. Serving up to twenty people, and with each food package under 190 calories per serving, it’s a great buy for families of all sizes. Another plus is that NatureBox contributes to feeding the hungry through their partnership with Feeding America.
Each NatureBox is priced at $19.99 and can be purchased on the website (naturebox.com).

A Dry Skin Cure: One Balm, Endless Possibilities
Short of a magic beauty wand? No problem. Here are a few products that check all the boxes.
Liz Earle’s Super Balm Sure, it’s a bit of a splurge ($29), but this balm is a one-stop shop. It can be used anywhere from head to toe to soothe and hydrate. The texture of the balm is a little gritty, similar to a lip scrub, and is made with natural ingredients including Vitamin E, Rosehip Oil and Neroli Oil that give off a pretty strong, but not unpleasant, aroma. I used the Super Balm specifically to target my dry hair and noticed my frizz decrease too. Read More

Would You Try The Latest Dating Trend — Pheromone Parties?
Our sense of smell shapes our memories, experiences, and perceptions of the world. Not only what we smell, but what we smell like ourselves is a significant part of our personal identity. My best friend has worn Thierry Mugler Alien for years, and I will forever associate the scent with our friendship and happiness. But what if you went on a date with a guy whose scent you couldn’t stand? Maybe not even a matter of cologne, it’s just his natural body odor. For many, that’d be a deal breaker.
Enter the new frontier in dating: pheromone parties. Here’s the scoop: guests are asked to sleep in a t-shirt for three consecutive nights. After the third night, they freeze the shirt in a Ziploc bag to “lock in” the scent. Then, at the party, bags are marked male or female and guests go around smelling the bags. At the end of the night, guests pick the bag that they find smells most attractive, and they meet the person behind the scent. Crazy! Seems like an all-together kooky idea, but we think they’re on to something. If scent shapes our perceptions of one another so significantly, then pheromone parties seem, well, logical.

“Best Shave Product I’ve Ever Used” — That’s What He Said
If I’m The Beauty Girl, my husband is The Beauty Guy. He’s earned this title. He dutifully tests all of the grooming products I shove in his face, leave on his side of the sink or as was the case with this latest one, put on his “Honey Do” list while I was away over the weekend. Read More Comment

How Far Would You Go For Thicker Brows?
We’ve heard of hair transplants for bald spots…but for your brows? Yes, the latest advancements in hair transplantation are allowing doctors to use hair from the legs and nape of the neck to bush-up eyebrows. Whether they’re pin thin from aging or from being tweezer happy (pluck too much and the hairs will stop growing back), this procedure takes filling in brows to a new level. While I do encourage a full, hearty frame for your face, which has been emphasized from season to season on the runways, I’m not that gung-ho.
Would you consider this procedure?
