Best Spring Beauty Buys for Moms Event

Last month we had our 4th annual Best Beauty Buys for Moms Event with Bump Club and Beyond, presented by Clarins, Phyto and Bath & Body Works. Moms and moms-to-be gathered at the Argent Restaurant for a night of beauty treatments (manicures, brow waxes, chair massages and micro-derm facials) powered by PrettyQuick, food, mocktails and cocktails, a presentation of my spring beauty must-haves, raffles prizes and gift bags galore. Everyone left with more than $200 worth of beauty products! To name a few: Cocktail Fragrance Bubble Bath, Jouer and Cargo lip glosses, Aveeno baby products, B. Kamins skincare, Rosebud lip salve, Bath & Body Works fragrance, Phyto hair de-frizzer, GoSwype antibacterial wipes, Clarins body oil and stretch mark control cream and the list goes on. Here are some photo highlights and a slideshow, courtesy of Tk Photography, showcasing the evening’s festivities.

Bath & Body Works Beautiful Day Collection Preview

I love when new spring beauty products land on my desk. Then I know it won’t be long before I can store my winter coat. When Bath & Body Works new Beautiful Day collection arrived, it only added to my anticipation of warmer weather. I was sent the entire line (shower gel, fragrance mist, shimmer mist, eau de toilette, body lotion and body cream), and when I inhaled the scent, it made me happy. It’s as simple as that. The fragrance isn’t overly floral or romantic or woodsy or oriental. In fact, it’s refreshingly uncomplicated with a few notes that blend together to smell a little bit sweet, thanks to pink peonies and dandelions, and a little bit crisp, which you get from green apple. My number one from this launch may be the mist. It’s a lighter version of the perfume, and I’m picturing wearing it on an above 50-degree day. Hopefully that means it’ll be on my skin very soon.

Would You Try The Latest Dating Trend — Pheromone Parties?

Our sense of smell shapes our memories, experiences, and perceptions of the world. Not only what we smell, but what we smell like ourselves is a significant part of our personal identity. My best friend has worn Thierry Mugler Alien for years, and I will forever associate the scent with our friendship and happiness. But what if you went on a date with a guy whose scent you couldn’t stand? Maybe not even a matter of cologne, it’s just his natural body odor. For many, that’d be a deal breaker. Enter the new frontier in dating: pheromone parties. Here’s the scoop: guests are asked to sleep in a t-shirt for three consecutive nights. After the third night, they freeze the shirt in a Ziploc bag to “lock in” the scent. Then, at the party, bags are marked male or female and guests go around smelling the bags. At the end of the night, guests pick the bag that they find smells most attractive, and they meet the person behind the scent. Crazy! Seems like an all-together kooky idea, but we think they’re on to something. If scent shapes our perceptions of one another so significantly, then pheromone parties seem, well, logical.

Lise Watier Press Trip in Montreal — What To Buy & What I did

Day two started out with a lovely brunch at the Ritz with Madame Watier (shown above). I was impressed by Lise Watier, not only because she’s the founder of this successful 40-year-old company and is still involved in the product creation, but also because she’s on a mission to empower women and has taken this a step further by forming her own charity. As for the products, here’s what stood out to me… Read More

I had the chance to interview Private Practice star Kate Walsh, who happens to have her own beauty company. Who knew?! There are a gazillion celebrity fragrances out there, but Kate’s is different. She came up with the idea for her fragrance Billionaire Boyfriend, created her own company and launched the scent this year. I found out what’s really behind the name as well as her other beauty secrets like how she keeps her skin in check after all of those hours on set.
