Hand Sanitizers for Germaphobes
Baby Rex is already 4 months old. He’s growing like a champ and hasn’t caught the slightest bit of a cold — even with my hubby and I being under the weather (I hope I’m not jinxing myself!). To keep my little guy germ-free, I’ve been spritzing and slathering myself with every hand sanitizing wipe, spray and wash I could find. Two of my favorites:
CleanWell. The products are alchohol free, kill bacteria with plant oils and beyond affordable.
Eve Echo. If ever there was a luxurious way to clean, this is it. I appreciate the pretty packaging and enjoy the various lightly scented formulas such as lavendar and sweet mango to name a few. Plus, the company donates their profits to help impoverished women with business.
Here’s to starting out the New Year with a clean slate!

A Serum Worth Every Penny
It’s rare I buy the same product twice.
However, my newfound relationship with Lancôme’s Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate has changed my ways. Falling victim to great PR and advertising, I picked up a bottle on a whim. It works by “boosting the activity of genes and stimulating the production of youth proteins.” Who cares what the heck that means—it works!
My skin tends to be dry and flaky, so I’m all about brighteners. After just two days of using Genifique, my skin made major strides. I wear tinted moisturizer or a sheer foundation daily to even out and warm my skintone, and I’ve been skipping that all together. I apply the clear, smooth serum at night, and I wake up with the glowiest, dewiest skin of my adult life. My complexion is more uniform, youthful and fresh looking. It’s been a long time since I’ve found a product that truly makes a difference in my skin. It’s not drugstore cheap (the smallest bottle is $58), but it has proven to be worth every penny. Now, if only Lancôme would sell this in bulk. (posted by Cody)

Need a New Lipstick? Here’s Your Answer
Can you believe it’s been 20 years since makeup maven Bobbi Brown started her beauty empire? To mark this milestone, she’s come up with the lip palette of all palettes. The “1991 Lip Palette” is limited edition, pocket size and 20 shades deep!
It’s got the original ten lip colors that launched the brand as well as ten just-been-born shades so the options are endless: the new hues are bright, fun and meant to be mixed and matched with the everyday classics. From oranges and reds, to pinks and purples, to browns and neutrals, it’s all there. I’m no mathematician, but I’m thinking you can make at least a zillion and two color concoctions out of that. It even houses a lip brush and a large mirror.

Amazing Fragrance Find
Here’s a scent to know about. And I’m not saying this just because it has a huge celebrity following (Demi Moore, Mila Kunis and Hayden Panettiere all own fragrances from the line) or because it’s really affordable. A 3.8 oz full-size bottle is $35 and the travel size (shown below), which I prefer because it has a no-spill roller ball applicator, is only $12.
Eau De Nous isn’t over-thought or forced. It’s a series of simple, lovely aromas made by two sisters, Daya and Vally Fernandez, who created a series of scents reminiscent of their childhood. There are 4 in all: Gardenian Gift, which has notes of jasmine, orange and cloves; Bebe Breeze, a mix of rich floral tones like roses and lilies; Citrus Charm, a blend of mandarin and grapefruit essences; and Jasmine Joy, a marriage of honeysuckle, sandalwood and jasmine oil.
The perfumes are really wearable and casual enough for everyday. For summer I’m into Gardenian Gift. It’s quiet, floral, and fresh – just what summer should be.

Product Of The Week: Revision Skincare Intellishade SPF 45 Matte Tinted Moisturizer
Walk down any beauty aisle, and you’ll see there’s a separate product to fix every single one of our skin complaints. You could spend twenty minutes just treating your face alone! The only one with that kind of time is my dog.
It’s obvious I’m a softy for effective multi-taskers, so I had to mention this workhorse of a moisturizer. Revision Skincare’s Intellishade SPF 45 Matte is a tinted moisturizer that also evens skintone, provides SPF protection with Titanium and Zinc (click here to find out my other favorite sunscreen picks and to learn about the new rules the FDA passed regarding these products) and contains ingredients that help to reduce the appearance of pores and wrinkles.
P.S. If this brand isn’t ringing a bell, it’s because it’s usually sold at dermatologist and plastic surgeon offices and medical spas. Another unique feature I really like is that the formula comes in one shade. No more figuring out if the hue is too yellow or light for your skin tone. This is a one-size-fits-all deal, and it worked on my fair complexion. The color that came out of the tube is darker than any foundation I’ve ever applied, but as soon as I rubbed it in, it blended beautifully. I’m definitely a fan of this for anyone with fair to beige skintones, but I wonder if this single shade works just as well on people with deeper complexions. If anyone decides to give it a try, I’d love to hear how it goes.

Favorite Foundation
I’ve never been a foundation wearer. My loyalty has been to the same tinted moisturizer (Laura Mercier is the best!) for as long as I can remember. This year, everything changed, and it had nothing to do with my skin.
I discovered Koh Gen Do (pronounced Ko as in “cope” Gen as in “get” Do as in “dough”) foundation. Barneys recently introduced the cult-favorite Asian brand into select stores, and the Aqua Foundation SPF 15 has become my new obsession. Being that it’s so new and exclusive in the states, it’s still on the DL, though I’ve found that a bunch of the really good makeup artists in the biz are on my same page.
The formula evens my skin tone without covering my freckles. After I apply it, I don’t feel like I’ve got anything on my face. There’s no caking or product sinking into fine lines or any signs that give away the fact that you’re wearing foundation. What sells me on a base is how it looks and feels — not the ingredients. Koh Gen Do’s performs like a champ, and it’s made with botanical extracts and minerals, which is a plus in my book.
On the downside, it’s only available in a limited amount of shades. Note: To find your perfect shade, apply the foundation on your jawline, not your hand, because the skin on your hand is a different color from the skin on your face. The color that blends in with your skin is your best match. I primarily use PK-1 on my fair skin and sometimes mix it with OC-2 for a touch more color. Now that I’ve been converted, I hope the company expands their shade range so more people can experience what I’m talking about.

Special Offer: $50 Off Nu Skin’s Anti-Aging Galvanic Spa!
If you missed my TV segment on great at-home spa treatments, Nu Skin’s best-selling galvanic spa was one of them.
Lucky for us, Nu Skin has created a special discount on this kit just for The Beauty Girl readers. Normally priced at $375, you can get the entire ageLoc Galvanic Spa Package, which includes treatment gels, moisture mist, etc., for $50 off, which comes to $325. It may seem like a splurge, but compared to the pro version of this treatment, which costs from $75 to $150 a pop, this kit ends up being the deal of the century! If you do the math, a single at-home session is about $8.
Product benefits: Improves skin texture, tightens skin, removes toxins, minimizes appearance of wrinkles and other perks to make you look younger. Results are cumulative, so the more you use the spa, the more dramatic the differences.
Contents include: ageLOC Edition Galvanic Spa System II, 2 boxes Galvanic Spa Facial Gels with ageLOC, NaPCA Moisture Mist, DVD, Instruction Guide, Galvanic Brochure and Product Catalog
Below is a video that I warn you is cheesy, but it does give a quick summary as to why this product is all the rage. P.S. This exclusive Beauty Girl discount gives you the spa + gels and other products for $325, which is what the newest version of the galvanic spa retails for on its own.
