How Far Would You Go For Thicker Brows?

We’ve heard of hair transplants for bald spots…but for your brows? Yes, the latest advancements in hair transplantation are allowing doctors to use hair from the legs and nape of the neck to bush-up eyebrows. Whether they’re pin thin from aging or from being tweezer happy (pluck too much and the hairs will stop growing back), this procedure takes filling in brows to a new level. While I do encourage a full, hearty frame for your face, which has been emphasized from season to season on the runways, I’m not that gung-ho.

Would you consider this procedure?

Trend to Try: Matte Nails

I’m wearing EvolutionMan Nail Paint in Stand Out. Formulated for a man (yes, really…have you heard of “guyliner“?) yet equally wearable for a woman. I can’t tell you how many compliments I’ve gotten wearing this metallic charcoal. It’s all about the matte finish — edgy and elegant. And the color pops against my turquoise Coach Madison wallet.

Road Test: Stylish Odor Eaters That Work

While we may be in the dog days of summer, you don’t have to smell like one. I’ve already offered suggestions on how to keep your body parts above the belt and below the belt as squeaky clean as June Cleaver. Now, I’m going to tackle the last potential summer hazard that could make your day less than picture-perfect – stinky feet.

Silver Linings shoe insertsBeing that I’m preggo and have to stay off my tootsies, I enlisted my dedicated intern Cody with the task of testing out Silver Linings, shoe inserts that claim to absorb odor and moisture. While they’ve got a cute name and they look more stylish than other odor eaters that have been around for ages, this is a case where fashion must meet function.

So, to see if the technology in these soles really worked, Cody slipped the liners into her ballet flats before leaving her house in the morning. Her initial findings: “They felt so discreet, I forgot I had them on until I wiggled my toes during lunch and realized how dry and odor-free my feet were. Usually, after just a couple hours of being sockless in my shoes I feel like I need to douse my toes in baby powder.”

It’s been a few weeks since Cody first started using the ultra-thin inserts (three come in a pack, each pair should last two-three weeks), and she calls this trial a success. Er, I should say, a step in the right direction.

Shaving Tips For Guys

Guys may think they can get by with a quick shave, but I’ve seen too many gents walking around with razor burn and unsymmetrical facial hair. Sometimes, we need to review the basics so I enlisted Anthony Sosnick, founder of the grooming line Anthony For Men, to offer his tips for a perfect shave. 1. Around the time that you chugged your first beer, you probably also learned that the most important key to a successful shave is shaving in the direction of the beard growth. “Usually the beard grows downward toward your neck and upwards from the base of your neck,” says Tony.

Anthony's current favorite is his new Action Foaming Face Wash ($22).

2. To get a close shave, always wash your face with warm water to soften the hair before putting a razor to it and then apply a shaving cream to help the blades glide along the skin.

3. During the shave, use your free hand to keep your skin taut and as flat as possible and use short strokes starting at the side burns, cheeks and neck. “This helps to prevent nicks,” says Tony. Save your lip and chin for last so the cream can soften these heavier whiskers. And don’t forget to replace your razor after three or four uses. 4. Finish by rinsing your face with cool water and gently pat, don’t rub, your face dry. If you’re prone to razor burn, splash on an after shave balm to keep your fresh face soft and hydrated. the brazorNow that we’ve got your face covered, don’t forget to landscape your body. Bushy back hair won’t entice a woman to wrap her arms around you so be sure to clean up the area before your shirt comes off. I’ve recently come across a new tool specifically made for these notoriously hard-to-reach spots. It’s called The Brazor (shown left), and it’s made with a longer handle so you don’t have to contort yourself to reach your target. Would you try The Brazor? Yes. This looks like a good invention. (90%, 9 Votes) No. I can handle my back hair myself. (10%, 1 Votes)
