Talking life, beauty and fashion with Whitney Port
Today I interviewed Whitney Port. Our convo was easy, fun and cool – all the words I’d used to describe the 27-year-old reality star turned fashion designer and then some.
I’m not gonna lie. I was excited for our phone date. I’ve been following Whit on TV since she first appeared on “The Hills” working with LC as an intern at “Teen Vogue.” I watched her breakup with Jay on “The City” and struggle to create her first fashion collection. Sure, you can say the launching pad of her success had a lot to do with being in the right place at the right time. She admits that.
“I was working as an intern in the same offices as “Teen Vogue.” I heard about a job opening there and while applying I found out about this new TV show. They asked if I’d send in a casting tape, which I did, and on my first day the cameras were there.”
While driving to a photo shoot, Whitney, who talks and sounds just as she does on TV (not sure why I was happy/relieved about this) was open and friendly as I asked her about dating, fashion, beauty and other good stuff. Read More

Stylish Winter Boots
Compared to the booger-freezing weather we’re used to, this winter has been a joke. With March approaching, the finish line is near! Until then, boots remain king. Here are 3 styles that get me through all of my activities.

Bootie Pies are the answer for every woman who wants to get a pedicure in the winter. They turn into open-toed boots just by pushing down a flap. No more wearing flip flops home or being stuck at the nail salon until your polish dries.
Aquatalia boots. Boot shopping can be tricky because I have narrow calves and find myself swimming in most styles. These offer a snug fit, are extremely comfortable, and are weatherproof, which makes them a cute and practical buy.

3 Legit, Inexpensive Exfoliators
Skin has a way of taking on reptilian qualities this time of year. In order to allow your creams and serumsto fully penetrate your skin, exfoliation is key. The Beauty Girl and I are both maj fans of ExfoliKate (check out her interview with Somerville!), but the stuff can cost you close to $90. crystals, the same type used in professional microdermabrasion, clears all traces of sallowness. It’s also infused with ceramides and antioxidants that amp up its anti-aging benefits. My makeup is going on smoother.
